Diabetes Partnership of Cleveland Summer Internship in Diabetes Research
Overview

The Summer Internship in Diabetes Research
has been suspended for 2012.

Check back in late 2012 for more information on the Summer Internships

Diabetes Partnership of Cleveland (formerly the Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland) Summer Internship in Diabetes Research is a unique summer research opportunity designed to give college students (undergraduate, graduate and medical students) first-hand experience in diabetes research. The program offers up to six students the opportunity to work for a ten-week period (June-August) with established diabetes researchers in northeast Ohio's premier medical institutions. Diabetes Partnership’s Summer Internship in Diabetes Research is often a student’s first exposure to diabetes research with the hope of fostering a continuing interest in the field of diabetes.

Each intern is sponsored by a local diabetes researcher and works closely with his or her sponsor designing and completing a research project in the area of diabetes during the 10-week internship. In addition, interns receive a $2,500 award (payable through the sponsor's institution), attend weekly diabetes seminars, spend time at Camp Ho Mita Koda, and present their research projects to sponsors and board members. Applications for the upcoming summer are posted online each winter. More information for Summer Internship Applicants...

The Summer Internship in Diabetes Research began in 1986 as the Andrea Vigliotti Summer Research Internship. It is the first summer research internship in the country pairing undergraduates with established researchers and the oldest diabetes research program in the country connecting undergraduate, graduate, and medical students with local diabetes investigators for summer research. Through 2010, $248,000 has been awarded to 120 exceptional students working with 69 different sponsors. See more about recent Summer Interns, sponsors, and projects:
